The Head of Crimean Parliament Vladimir Konstantinov during his speech at Satellite in Crimea radio station claimed during his speech at Satellite in Crimea radio station that International Festival Great Russian Word would become year round, RIA Novosti informs. The festival is traditionally conducted at the Crimean Peninsula. This year it was conducted with assistance and direct participation of Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko.

Apart from guests coming from different regions of Russia, about thirty delegations from CIS countries and Europe participated in the festival. Questions of preserving the Russian language and future perspectives of Russian Communities were discussed at the meetings.

Vladimir Konstantinov was proud to state that year by year, the festival is growing and expanding its scale, that is why Crimean authorities made a decision to change and strengthen its organization. Possibly, the State Council will establish a definite committee dealing with all organizational questions of the festival. Moreover, the event is supposed to become year round in future. Results of the specialized committee performance will be discussed at the plenary session of the festival.

The Head of Crimean Parliament has also underlined that All-Russian status of the festival is a great support for the peninsula authorities as it enhances the prestige of the event.

“Delegations from other regions were surprised to take part in such discussions. They have always been living in a quiet political environment, where nothing threatens their native language, but in Crimea they suddenly realized what it means to lose their language, culture and identity”, Konstantinov commented.
