Sotheby's Auction House celebrates 10 years anniversary of working in Russia, RIA Novosti informs. One-day exhibition Collectioner's Viepoint opened in Russian Public Library in honor of this event. It presents several dozens masterpieces aquired by Sotheby's bidders. There are also Russian art lots that are going to be introduced at the next Sotheby's auction in London.

In reality, the history of Sotheby's in Russia is much longer. The first Soviet art auctiuons took place at the end of the 1980s. That auction is defined by art experts as a historical one since it's widely introduced contemporary Soviet artists to the world for the first time.

During the official Sotheby's buisiness in Moscow 20 exhibitions of the world-recognized art were conducted. The quantity of collectioners has risen by about one third. It worth mentioning that prices for the Russian and Soviet art have also drastically grown, along with prestige of National art.
