Prime Minister of Ukraine claimed about centuries of Russian language oppression

24.05.2017

The Head of Ukrainian Parliament Vladimir Groisman congratulated the compatriots with the Day of Slavic Writing and noted that the country had finally managed to overcome oppression of the Russian language. In his opinion, it was intellectual deed for the Ukrainians, RIA Novosti informs. He called them for doing everything possible for the sake of future development of the creative culture in Ukraine.

Groisman has also added that popularization of the Ukrainian language has been quite successful too. He has explained that currently language and culture of Ukraine are becoming fashionable, required and influential as before. It should be reminded that earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister has claimed that the country has no problems with the Russian language.

A new draft law About Language has been recently proposed to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Its initiators are offering to make Ukrainian the only and obligatory language for all governmental bodies and local administrations. The law will be in force for all higher educational institutions too.
