Final round of the International Contest of Young Readers Live Classics took place in Artek, website of Rospechyat informs. In this fifth season, contest winners were chosen by professional jury and by the children who became super finalists of the All-Russian Contest of Young Readers. Moreover, a winner of viewers’ preferences contest was defined as well.

135 people from thirty-five countries participated in the International Finale.

According to President of Live Classics Foundation Marina Smirnova, All-Russian and International Contests differ a bit in their tasks. She has noted that the children from our country compete with each other in declamation skills, choice of the piece of writing, at the same time, participants from other countries experience some difficulties in learning a text in Russian by heart as the Russian language is a foreign or second language for them. At this, participants of the International contest often choose texts little known in Russia; however, in many cases they learn pieces of Russian classical literature.

A list of super finalists was announced by the celebrated jury including a famous actor and film director Egor Konchalovsky, Eralash TV series founder Boris Grachevsky, actresses Nelly Uvarova and Zoya Berber and many other well-known people. The lines by Grigory Gorin, Boris Shergin, Luisa May Alcott and modern and classical writers were read on the stage.

It is worth reminding that the final round of Live Classics All-Russian contest took place in Artek last week as well.
