Test-guide Russian Language Center opened in Georgia, as per the press-service of the Russian Union of Youth in Georgia.

The support of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute made its opening possible after signature of corresponding collaboration agreement with the Union. Georgian citizens had an opportunity to check their Russian language skills, pass exams and get corresponding state certificates (A1 – C2)

It was impossible to pass the Russian language tests and to receive an official certificate before. The center will significantly simplify life of schoolchildren and applicants to universities planning to continue their higher education in Russia.

Test-guide Center director Alexander Bezhentsev has expressed hope that an attitude towards the Russian language is going to change in the country soon. Russian language did not have status of even a foreign language twelve years ago. The bulk of Russian schools was closed and the number of young people speaking Russian sharply decreased.

Bezhentsev has claimed that one of the main Center goals is to awake interest in the Russian language through implementation of state certification programmes needed for Russian compatriots desiring to get a job in Russia or Russian citizenship.
