Eugene Onegin production by Rimas Tuminas staged in Budapest

The Vakhtangov Theatre is demonstrating its sensational stage production Eugene Onegin to the world, TASS reports.

This time Hungarian audience is about to see the staging by the artistic director Rimas Tuminas based on Alexander Pushkin’s legendary novel. As per Managing Director of the Vakhtangov Theatre Kirill Krok, this is the first performance of the Vachtagov Theatre troop in Budapest. It is included into the agenda of International Theatre Festival in honor of Imre Madach – Hungarian poet, philosopher and playwright. The performance is scheduled for tomorrow, April 29.

Kirill Krok has advised that a group of sixty people set off to Hungary. He has reminded that the stage production is played by several casts of actors. In particular, the main part is played by two renowned actors – Sergei Makovetsky and Alexei Guskov. They even had to purchase two sets of sceneries and costumes. Eugene Onegin performed by the Vakhtangov Theatre is extremely popular and in high demand worldwide. The troop is invited to the most celebrated festivals all over the world.

It should be reminded that the production premiere took place in Moscow in winter of 2013 and coincided with 130th birth anniversary of Yevgeny Vakhtangov. The road tour of the stage production has been successful in many cities of Europe and North America. Tel Aviv audience contemplated the performance too.
