More than 7 million US dollars were allocated for implementation of different support programmes for the Indigenous Peoples of Russia from budgets of all levels. The Head of Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov made this statement during his speech at the UN Forum dedicated to 10-year anniversary of signature of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, TASS reports.

According to him, financing in the amount of almost eighteen million dollars is provided up to 2025. The funds are allocated as a part of the state national politics’ implementation relating to the Indigenous Peoples.

The money is directed to construction of mobile hospitals, kindergartens and schools, including nomad schools. Besides, periodicals, books, textbooks in languages of the Indigenous Peoples are constantly published. Teachers are trained for this money as well. They will teach children in their native languages afterwards.

In view of the Head of Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, international cooperation is not enough to solve all survival problems of the Indigenous Peoples. Some steps should be taken on the national level too. It is impossible without reasonable actions by the state bodies including amendments to legislation implying acknowledgement of the rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Almost three dozens of Russian Federation Subjects, where Indigenous Peoples reside, have a wide range of capabilities and resources for protection of their interests, Igor Barinov added.
