Lavrov called EU for mutual fight against real security threats

24.04.2017

Presidential Administration of Russia

European Union should turn its attention to real security threats, not just contrive fake ones, as per Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He made this statement in the course of negotiations with the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini, TASS informs.

He expressed his gratitude to EU Foreign Service for their condolences regarding the terrorist attack happened at the beginning of April in Saint Petersburg. Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation called it “unhuman behavior”. He has reminded that this attack equals other similar crimes committed in different European cities.

Lavrov has mentioned that there is a crying need for focusing on common real threats, and not on fake security risks.

The Minister has added that today our relations between our country and the West undergo many difficulties. Sergey Lavrov has cleared out that Moscow has not changed its attitude and is still ready to build up full-scale collaboration with Brussels in pace acceptable for the European Union.

Federica Mogherini, in her turn, has said that EU is interested in collaboration with Russia on such directions as terrorism combating and Syrian and Libyan conflicts’ settling. She has emphasized that Russia and Europe are facing the same tasks connected to fight against terrorism.
