Monument in honor of the first cosmonaut on the planet will appear in Colorado Springs, USA, TASS reports. The gala opening ceremony of Yuri Gagarin bust took place the day before the thirty-third Space Symposium.

According to Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos Head Igor Komarov, the monument installation is a significant event for both professionals and young generations. The youth is a source of new ideas and energy.

Roscosmos specialists, including pilot-cosmonaut Sergey Krikalev who is leading manned space programmes, and Russian diplomats took part in the ceremony.

It should be also reminded that the bust of Yuri Gagarin enriched the art collection of the National Air and Space Museum in Washington last year. The monument to the first cosmonaut was a part of the exposition of the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum as well.

As per the Russkiy Mir Foundation, last year was 150th anniversary of the first human space flight.
