Putin: Historical memory and spiritual energy of people are concentrated in culture

Unique heritage of national culture should be carefully preserved and multiplied. Such was a statement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the awarding ceremony of young cultural workers and distribution of Presidential prizes in the field of culture and arts for works for children and the youth, the official Kremlin website reports. According to Putin, this would encourage to reinforce common society values and foster moral education.

"Culture is a landmark, foundation and space for all of our life. Historical memory and spiritual energy of people are concentrated in nowhere but culture", the Head of State said. He believes that people working in the field of culture influence modern cultural environment and form its variety in Russian regions. The award ceremony coincided with Day of the Russian Cultural Worker to be celebrated on March 25.

As per Russkiy Mir Foundation, the painter and fine art expert Vera Lagutenkova, actor Anton Shagin and the V. K. Arseniev Primorsky State Associated Museum Viktor Shalay are among the award recipients. The Presidential prize for works for children and the youth was handed out to film director Vladimir Grammatikov, writer Anastasia Orlova and animator Leonid Shvatrsman.

Handing out the awards, President of the Russian Federation has underlined that it is extremely important to find artistic devices understandable to children. Putin has emphasized that it is culture that helps young generation to be aware of importance of such eternal values as patriotism, justice, generosity, friendship and decency.
