Sochi International Airport was recognized as the best one in Europe, according to RIA Novosti. It has surpassed his rival, famous Moscow Sheremetyevo airport. Sheremetyevo was keeping it’s first place for the service quality for 4 years in a row.

According to the last year’s result, Dublin, Malta, Porto and Zurich airports keep leading positions.

The research was done as a part of Airport Service Quality program of Airports Council International.

Sochi Airport was built in 1940s. Beginning from 1980s, it started functioning as an international one. Each year 5,5 million people are being served on board. There are two runways and taxiways with overall length of 4 310 m and 40,5 m width. The new airport building in modern style was opened in 2009.
