Creative Foreign language Festival in Poland

IV District Creative Festival of foreign languages for the youth took place in Lyceum of Technology and Economics not far from Krakow in Skavin. Students from lyceums, high schools and colleges of Malopolskoye Voevodstvo (Region at the South of Poland) were actively participating in the event.

The festival was held in the Event Hall at the Lyceum of Technology and Economics. The spectators were offered to participate in two contests: a song and a poem in foreign language. Students preformed in three languages – Russian, English and German. Young people competed in knowledge of foreign languages and could boast of their vocal and acting talents. The board of judges included Russian vice-consul of Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Krakow, Poland, Sergey Manko, representatives of U.S. Consulate General in Krakow Bozhena Pillat and Michaela Chaffers, supervisor of Russian Center in Krakow Alexander Golembevskiy, specialist from Goethe Institute, director of Skavin City Partnership Alliance and Skavin administration. The jury estimated language and acting skills of the participants, the ability to work with the audience and scenography.

Students dancing ensembles of Malopolskoye Vedomstvo, gymnasts from the band Street Performer – brothers Kryuk, street dancers and others presented their shows in breaks between performances of contestants. All participants carefully prepared their programmes and demonstrated high level of professionalism.

The winners of the competition received presents from sponsors of the event. Russian Center provided the performers in Russian with t-shirts, baseball caps and pens with Russkiy Mir Foundation logo as well as writing notepads of the Pedagogical University. Veronika Adamys who became the winner of the Festival for the second time presented the poem by Samuil Marshak “Here I am, very rattlebrained”. She’s also awarded with a free Russian language course in our Center, which will enable her to raise her level of professionalism.

Supervisor of Russian Center in Krakow Alexander Golembevskiy made a speech in front of the audience for local television; he thanked the organizers and students of all the schools participating in the Festival. He added that the event facilitates effective collaboration with our Center and underlined the importance of learning foreign languages as it influences the development of cross-cultural relations.
