Traditional holiday, dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day took place in Toronto, Canada, as per website of World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots. The gala evening “Songs burnt by War” was held this year already for the third time. Russian Congress of Canada and the Russian Youth Theatre, as always, organized this event.

Among guests were Russian expats living in Canada and people willing to honor the memory of soldiers who defended the whole world during the Second World War as well as hot spot war veterans – soldiers of the Soviet and Russian armies. The veterans were honored guests.

The agenda included an official part and congratulations to the war heroes, video reports about international campaign “Congratulate a Soldier with New Year” in which many Toronto citizens participated. At the end of the evening people were singing war songs altogether.
