Russian sailors managed to avoid imprisonment and returned safely home, RIA Novosti informs. According to Sevastopol public defender of human rights Pavel Butsay, these Russians were not taken prisoners.

It should be reminded that BBC Caribbean ship was attacked at the beginning of February. Seven Russians and one Ukrainian were kidnapped from the vessel. As the ship-owning company representatives commented, the ship itself was not captured. Supposedly, the pirates were given a tip-off.

Senior captain’s assistant and senior ship’s engineer could hide from the pirates. The criminals left behind another crewmember who was a cadet sailor. Their reasons are still unknown.

It was reported earlier, that the pirates agreed to set the captives free in exchange for money. It cannot be told so far if the conflict was resolved or not, as the situation is changing very rapidly. However, the negotiations about liberation of sailors continue.
