Well-known German actor Til Schweiger agreed to take part in the movie Crime and Punishment, based on the novel by Fyodor M. Dostoyevsky. The film will be shot in a new format plunging the audience into the screen atmosphere and making them feel a part of the story, TASS reports.

The movie, produced by Russian Film Group, will be shot in the latest format of virtual VR 360. The film director, Roman Doronin underlined that the participation of Mr. Schweiger together with innovative VR 360 format will draw much attention to the film. “This is going to be Russian classics propaganda all over the world,” he declared.

Til Schweiger started his career as an actor in 1991. The film Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door made him a world–famous star and brought a reward of the Moscow International Film Festival for the best male part in 1997.

The first screen version of Crime and Punishment was produced as early as 1910. It was a black and white movie directed by Vasiliy Goncharov. Two more films based on the novel were shot in France and USA before The World War II. There have been at least 30 film adaptations of Crime and Punishment. The new interpretation will let the audience see Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novel in the 360-degree range.
