Week of Lermontov at Russian Center in Krakow

05.12.2016

In 2016-2017, the Russian Center operating in Krakow, Poland, is to hold a number of events dedicated to great Russian writers and ports. Recently, we hold a Week of Pushkin during which our trainers told the students attending the Russian language courses about the outstanding Russian writer and this week we have arranged a Week of Lermontov.

Polish young people know little about Mikhail Lermontov. The presentation on the writer included poems recited by famous actors and fragments of A Hero of Our Time made by Stanislav Rostotsky in 1966.

Thanks to the classes, the students learned a lot about the writer and his works, which broadened their horizons. In the near future, our students will get exposure to the biographies and works by such famous Russian writers as A.P. Chekhov, L.N. Tolstoy, F.M. Dostoevsky and M.A. Bulgakov and will watch fragments of screen versions of their famous books.

Italian entrepreneur Marco Maggi's book, "Russian to the Bone," is now accessible for purchase in Italy and is scheduled for release in Russia in the upcoming months. In the book, Marco recounts his personal odyssey, narrating each stage of his life as a foreigner in Russia—starting from the initial fascination to the process of cultural assimilation, venturing into business, fostering authentic friendships, and ultimately, reaching a deep sense of identifying as a Russian at his very core.
