Valdai Discussion Club meeting to be held in Sochi

The Valdai Discussion Club is to hold its 13th meeting in Sochi today, 24 October, reports TASS. The main subject to be discussed is Tomorrow’s Outlines.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RF Sergei Lavrov, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and other political figures representing over 30 countries are to speak at the forum. A Syrian representative will take part in the meeting for the first time. President of the RF Vladimir Putin is expected to speak at the forum as well.

According to the arrangers, the meeting of the discussion club is to become the place where a lot of urgent matters can be discussed and answers to a lot of questions can be given. This year, six sessions of the meeting are to deal with the settlement of the Syrian crisis, migrant crisis, economic matters and influence of technological innovations on politics. The future of the EU and the further development of its relations with Russia will be discussed specially.

Mr. Lavrov is supposed to speak about the current situation of the global stage and answer questions the participants of the forum will ask.

In addition, the award established by the Valdai Discussion Club is to be handed over. The award is given for great contribution to research and educational projects dealing with urgent matters of global development and international relations.

This year, special prizes for “particular contribution to the development of the Valdai Discussion Club” are supposed to be handed over as well.

The International Valdai Discussion Club was founded in 2004.
