Crimea hosts International Meeting of searching groups

27.09.2016

On September 23-25, the 12th International Meeting of Searching Groups “Partisan Glory” took place in the Bakhchisarai region, Crimea. The international forums of young scouts are part of “The Cranes Fly” project which is in its turn part of the morale building activities carried out by the All-Ukrainian “Russian School” non-government organization operating in Ukraine, post-Soviet and far abroad countries.

In the partisan forest found in the Crimean mountains over 100 school students and students of Russian and Ukrainian educational institutions shared their experience in the field of the activity they deal with and got to know the history of partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War.

The forum program included sports and intellectual competitions, nights of patriotic songs and presentations telling about searching activity.

On Saturday, the forum participants tracked along partisan trail ways found in the partisan forest. Hiking along out-of-the-way places located next to the village of Sokolinoe took almost the whole light day and young scouts covered over 20 kilometers on foot. They gathered information on monuments of the Great Patriotic War and each team completed their partisan medical pack containing natural blessings the Crimean forests are rich in.

The forum was supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation and the Sevastopol State University. Its arrangers showed the forum participants around the places where battle actions were performed during the Great Patriotic War, told them about the history of the partisan movement, and helped them to draw their own conclusions on the role of the Red Army and the partisan movement in the Great Victory. Most of combat leaflets each team issued following the forum results dealt with the matters.

Each forum participant was given a certificate and the winners were awarded cups and commemorative prizes.
