BRICS Network University to include 50 higher educational institutions

The BRICS Network University will start its operation in full force and effect within the two nearest years. It is supposed to join about 50 higher educational institutions from 5 countries including Brazil, Russia, India, China and the RSA, reports TASS.

According to Vice-Principal of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) Larisa Efremova, the launch of the BRICS Network University is under preparation. Experts have already worked out its concept and the active phase of its establishment is to start next year.

Mrs. Efremova explained that the BRICS Network University will be established by the example of such similar projects as the CIS Network University and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Network University. The establishment of the SCO Network University took four years and to date it includes 80 higher educational institutions.

The thematic priorities of the BRICS network university include Economics, Energy, Food Ecology. At the moment, the controlling mechanisms, a list of potential universities and colleges and unified regulations as well as joint programs are developed.

As it was reported by Russkiy Mir website, the BRICS Network University will contribute to the development of uniform standards for education in the BRICS member countries. The activity which is supposed to be carried out by the BRICS Network University includes joint scientific research in different fields, launch of student exchange projects, arrangement of cross practices and traineeships.
