Vyacheslav Nikonov: State Duma of 6th convention paid much attention to education

The Chairman of the Committee on Education of the State Duma and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Vyacheslav Nikonov has claimed that this year there has not been cuts to funding for education and he considers that to be one of the achievements reached by the State Duma fraction 'Edinaya Rossiya', reportsEdinaya Rossiya.

He reminded that yet six years ago less than two billion rubles was allocated on education and as for 2015, the government allocated over three million rubles on educational purposes and the funding has not reduced in 2016.

It is very important that the State Duma of the 6th convention approved a new federal law “On education” that became operative in early 2013. Besides, new Russian regions Crimea and Sevastopol have been integrated in the Russian system of education and a lot has been done in order to develop educational sphere in Donetsk and Luhansk.

The Committee on Education has settled problems dealing with boarding fees, has restored the system of recording a number of school medals at school leavers’ entering higher educational institutions and has introduced the GTO tests again. Legislative framework that allows closing inefficient colleges and universities providing poor education to students has been developed.

Vyacheslav Nikonov also emphasized on the fact that thanks to the decision of State Duma deputies students have got a chance to visit museums once a month free of charge.

The 'Edinaya Rossiya' has also managed to make the government allocate 50 billion rubles on the construction of schools.

Vyacheslav Nikonov underlined that education matters were the key ones to have been settled by the State Duma of the 6th convention.
