Sculpture composition dedicated to A.S. Pushkin unveiled in Sofia

On June 10, a sculpture composition dedicated to A.S. Pushkin made by sculptor Todor Dimitrov has been unveiled at school № 133 named after Pushkin. Speaking at the opening ceremony the headmaster Daniela Borisova said that the grate Russian writer had always been respected both by the teaching staff and the school students. The school has a collection including a portrait of A.S. Pyshkin as well as some mosaic work, a bas-relief and pieces of mural painting.

The First Secretary of the Embassy of the RF in Sofia, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RF Robert Shestakov, a representative of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Bulgaria Pavel Zhuravlev, the Director of the House of Moscow in Sofia Boris Gromov, the Head of the Regional Inspectorate of Education of Sofia Vanya Kastreva, the Deputy Mayor of the Sredets regional authorities Valeri Manolov, the Head of the Russian language Department of the University of Sofia (St. Kliment Ohridski), an associate professor Tatyana Aleksieva, the Director of the Russian Center at the City Library Marieta Georgieva, teachers, school students and their parents were among the guests at the event. The school received congratulations on the occasion from the Minister of Education and Science of Bulgaria Miglena Kuneva.

Every year a traditional week dedicated to the school patron and the Daty of the Russian Language is held at the school. School students of different grades take part in various events and campaigns expressing their love of works by A.S.Pushkin.

The Russian language is taught to school students beginning from their first grade. High school students can learn such three foreign languages as Russian, French and English. Experts and parents appreciate a high level of teaching Russian at the school and its students traditionally win Russian Language Olympiads, contests and competitions. School leaver say that the knowledge of Russian contributes a lot to their careers.
