Russian Compatriots in Sweden Remember the Beginning of the Great Patriotic War

Фото: сайт Rurik.seStockholm has hosted a meeting dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The event was organized by the Ladya Society, the Union of Russian communities in Sweden informs. 

The event attracted our compatriots in Sweden; For the first time, they had met while celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Victory Day. People brought photos of their relatives who had fought against the Nazi to share memories about their lives. They told stories about the evacuation from Leningrad, about the life in Belarus; many could not hold their tears as they spoke.

Raisa Martin and Margarita Lonberg performed songs of the wartime. The members of the choir met at the events ten years ago, as well.

Lyudmila Sigel, Head of the Union of Russian communities in Sweden, held a speech at the event; she reminded how important it is to preserve memories about the events of the Great Patriotic War and called the guests to find out more about their relatives and to make recordings of these stories.
