Prokofiev’s Music Played in Pärnu, Estonia

18.04.2016

On 23 April 2016, we will be celebrating 125th birth anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev. The composer’s jubilee is a very important event in the history of Russian culture; in the world of music, it is an important date, as well. Everywhere, the festivals, competitions, and musical events are being organized, and Pärnu is no exception.

Prokofiev admirers gathered on 15 April in the big hall of the Pärnu central library to participate in the another round of lectures “History of Russian art in person” organized by the School of Russian language and culture of Järeleaitaja educational center and with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

“The world of Sergei Prokofiev’s music” was the name of the event dedicated to the birth anniversary of the composer. Artists of the Russian philharmonic society of Estonia led by Vladimir Ignatov introduced the audience to the music of Prokofiev, which combines modernism, impressionism and late romanticism. At the event, the audience learned about the evolution of the composer’s music and listened to some of his works.

Such meeting within the set of lectures “History of Russian art in person” are organized by the Järeleaitaja center in the framework of the School of Russian language and culture for the students, citizens and guests of Estonia’s summer capital.
